Gary Hewitt

"My dad took me to karate many years ago and I found it testing but enjoyable. Due to unfortunate circumstances we left that style and never returned. Thirty years elapsed and I noticed an advert in the village for karate and with trepidation stepped once more into a dojo. At first my rather unhealthy lifestyle ensured a plentitude of aches and pains but after a while they abated somewhat (though not completely!) Sensei Chris and Sensei Katie run an excellent friendly club with a wonderful spirit. Yes we do work exceedingly hard but the benefits for me are that I'm far fitter at 41 than when I was 21!"

"for anyone reading this who wants to battle those possible middle age demons of high blood pressure, diabetes and middle age spread then do come along and you might just enjoy it!"

"my goals are no doubt rather diffrent from our younger members!!!

1. To continue to get stronger and fitter, 2. To always look to learn, 3. To train hard and eventually get to my black belt, 4. To enjoy the ride wherever it takes me"
